Rodeway Inn Española

The clerk wouldn’t honor the price on the corporate website. Motel 6 has disappointed me before, but this place managed to be worse. The bathroom light was as dim as a candle, while the nine vanity LEDs seemed to be trying to signal a plane. Shampoo was apparently too expensive to provide. There was one bar of soap, and I had to break it in half to use it in the shower and at the sink. When I turned on the heater, it squealed like mice were invading. Save your money and find an overpass.

The beds felt like boards, and I didn’t sleep at all. By the day of my mother-in-law’s surgery, we were exhausted and miserable. I’d never stay again and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The staff member wouldn’t try to help, even when we offered to clean the adjoining room ourselves after she said it was dirty. We’d stopped on our way back from Santa Fe to arrange a room for my mother-in-law’s knee surgery. We wanted adjoining rooms so we could help her get ready. The woman at the desk was kind when she showed us the room and assured us she’d be there. But the day before the surgery, she was hateful. There were no adjoining rooms, no refund, and she smelled very bad.

The front desk people were nice and helped salvage the stay. The rooms were clean enough, in basic motel style, just don’t expect luxury. Breakfast was packaged muffins, pretty worthless. Check-in took much longer than at much nicer places, though that wasn’t the attendants’ fault. The back door is exit-only. It’s a Rodeway, so more or less what I expected.

The first room had old blood on the pillows. We requested another, but the TV in room two was broken and the outlets had wires showing. Room three had a fridge that didn’t work and a bathroom door that was hard to open and close. The customer service was awful and showed no concern for guests. The pool was out of order, too. I’ll never return.
