Free parking was a real plus, since we’d read that many nearby hotels charge for it. The room was comfortable and clean, though there was some paint trouble on the bathroom ceiling. Our room didn’t have a blow dryer, but the front desk replaced it right away, and everyone we met was friendly. We happened to be there for cocktail hour with nachos, and drinks and popcorn were available too. Breakfast was one of the better ones I’ve had. The price and location were great, and we’ll return when we’re back in St. Louis.

The smell of smoke was impossible to escape. Our first room reeked of cigarettes even though it was supposed to be non-smoking, so I asked for another and was moved across the hall. On the 11th floor, it seemed like one room smelled of cigarettes and another of overwhelming marijuana. The sheets and pillows smelled too. There are signs saying smoking brings a $250 cleaning charge, and I hope they actually enforce it, because the smoke seemed to be everywhere. For $190 a night, this was disgraceful. The room had stained floors, loose rubber seals on the door, no ceiling fan, and no real blanket, just about five sheets to cover up with. The bathroom had no fan, and the shower water wasn’t very hot. The TV wasn’t a smart TV, which made little sense in a smoke-filled room where guests might want to watch a movie. The area didn’t seem safe either. There is a restaurant attached, which is convenient, but the food wasn’t very good. I was also surprised this is where the government puts children during their MEPS trips. Very disappointing.

After I missed my flight, Landon and Taria walked me through how to use the shuttle and made sure I was welcomed with warm smiles. They also arranged a later checkout for my flight the next day. The rooms were clean and the amenities were great, but the staff really made the stay. I travel this route often, and I know where I’ll stay next time. I’ve worked on hotels for 26 years, and this is one of the best examples of customer service I’ve seen. I hope the team gets recognized.

I meant to stay one night and ended up staying three. I’d never stayed at a Drury before, but I’ll look for one again. The location was central enough for morning walks, next to a greenway, and not crowded; the highway was only two blocks away. From the hallway on my floor I could see the Arch. Doris helped me on the phone before I arrived, then greeted me with a smile whenever I saw her. She also arranged an extension so I could keep the same room. Stephanie was kind too. The staff alone would bring me back. There’s an indoor pool and spa, free breakfast, free evening drinks and snacks, plus hot water and coffee available around the clock. For the price, it was the most affordable hotel I’ve stayed at recently where I felt clean, safe, and truly welcome. I had a wonderful stay.

The heater was loud at night, which might bother light sleepers. Aside from that, our stay at Pear Tree Inn was smooth and pleasant, and the atmosphere felt comfortable and family-friendly. We especially liked the breakfast and the free evening snacks, which were a big help with the family. The hallway view was a nice surprise too, with the Gateway Arch and the stadium visible. For a family trip, it was a very positive choice. If noise is a concern, you could ask for a room with a quieter heater or bring earplugs.
