Red Lion Inn & Suites Eugene

There were problems in all three rooms my coworkers and I used, and the experience was bizarre. Room 222 reeked of cigarette smoke as soon as we opened the door, despite the no-smoking signs. The front desk quickly switched our room once we reported it, which I appreciated. In two rooms, the sink and shower drained slowly and water pooled around us. My coworkers’ room across the hall was unlocked when they entered, and a box of thawed pizza bagels was sitting on the desk. Breakfast was mediocre at best, with lukewarm eggs, stale pastries, and no fresh fruit. Eugene has many charming places to stay, so I’d look elsewhere.

We chose your hotel over others because it seemed well worth the price, and we’ll come back next time we’re in town. It was our first visit, as our daughter is starting at University of Oregon this fall. We loved the area, the pet-friendly policy, the hot breakfast each morning, and the jacuzzi on the first floor. The employees were very friendly and the service was great, especially at the front desk when we checked in. Worth the trip!

The first room smelled bad. We opened the window, turned on the AC, and went to dinner, but it smelled worse when we got back. The front desk moved us, then around 1 am loud guests woke us up, yelling, slamming doors, and stomping around. It felt like we’d booked a room in the ghetto, and we felt very unsafe. People were hanging around in the parking lot, and the noise went on past 3 am. My wife wanted to leave but was too scared because of what was going on outside. The McDonald’s next door was quieter than the hotel and its parking lot. The carpets were dirty, and the bed sagged so you rolled toward the middle. We paid too much to lose a night’s sleep.

The bed was comfortable, but the room setup was frustrating. We booked a king suite with a jacuzzi tub and got an accessible room we hadn’t requested. One side of the bed had no dresser or surface for a phone or water. The bathroom was tiny, with a wall-mounted sink too small for even toothpaste. The toilet had no lid, and its rounded tank couldn’t hold anything either. The neighborhood also didn’t feel nice: crossing the street to eat, we saw homeless people with signs at each intersection.
