Residence Inn Eugene Springfield

The rooms were in good shape, and when work forced us to leave two days early, the hotel charged us only for the two nights we actually stayed. I hadn’t even asked for a refund for the unused days. They didn’t have to do that, and to me it says a lot about the place. I can’t think of anything bad to say.

The staff were nice, and as a Marriott Platinum member I appreciated that. But my sleep was basically nonexistent: the mattress was deflated, the pillows were too, and there were three pieces of plywood under the mattress. I’m fine with an older property, but that setup was terrible. I contacted Marriott service and was told the front desk manager would follow up within 3-5 days. More than seven days have passed with no response. I also found a post about the same problem in room 314 where the manager said it would be fixed, but apparently it wasn’t. You get five points for staying here compared with other Marriott properties. I’d stay elsewhere in Eugene.

The beds and bedding were in good shape, and the room was quiet. It was also close to major highways, which made getting around easy. But this is an aging standard Residence Inn with upkeep and cleanliness problems. My A/C never worked properly, even after I requested maintenance. The closest exit to my room was out of order for a while, and the TV in one bedroom turned on but wouldn’t change channels. I also found dirt and bits of grime in some floor corners.

The staff are what make this a great place to stay. Manny, the night manager, was especially professional and attentive.
