The Evansville Inn

The room was dirty and poorly maintained, and the service wasn't good. I was given a two-bed room, but one bed was missing, leaving only its headboard on the wall. The bed that remained was rock hard, and what looked like semen was on the headboard. When I arrived, the parking lot was empty and nobody was at the desk. I rang the bell, heard movement upstairs, then waited about five minutes for a woman I found creepy to come down. I stayed about a year ago, so I don't remember every problem, but there were a lot. I hadn't read the reviews beforehand, and the bad ones turned out to be completely right. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Do not stay here.

Read the reviews about online reservations being cancelled. We had a pleasant weekend stay here for an event in 2024, booked through Expedia with no trouble, so we reserved well ahead for 2025. After seeing recent complaints about reservations cancelled without warning, I called to confirm ours, which we had made in April. The owner questioned whether I understood English while I was trying to give her my itinerary number. She said the reservation wasn't in their system, wouldn't book me a new room online or consider matching the price, and said, “We're full this weekend.” Then she hung up and didn't answer when I called back. Expedia also tried calling and got no response. I had to cancel, but fortunately I was still within the full refund period. This was the same treatment other people described when their reservations weren't honored. Given the poor customer service, overbooking, and failure to honor online bookings, I will never try to stay here again. Read the reviews.

We stayed here because a wedding was next door, and I didn't have the energy to find another place after the mess at check-in. The whole day was nearly ruined. I'd driven 2 HOURS, thinking this was a decent hotel near the venue, after booking months in advance. At the desk, the woman said they don't process online bookings. When I tried to book in person, she said they were full, despite the parking lot looking practically empty. I asked if she or anyone else could help find a room, and she slammed the door in my face. Literally. The place felt like a dump, and the staff were rude, unhelpful, and incompetent. I felt punished just for walking in. I've been treated better by a vending machine. How can this even be called a hotel? Don't book here unless you're willing to risk a day like mine.

There was no maid service during my stay, and they didn't bring fresh towels. The microwave was filthy, with someone's soup blown up inside and left uncleaned. I couldn't reach anyone at the front desk to ask for towels or a clean microwave, since staff only seemed to be there around check-in and check-out. The desk staff were very unprofessional and seemed to have no idea how to run a hotel. Worst hotel I've stayed in. Drive farther for a real hotel. Do not stay here.
