The dessert was my favorite part of dinner: the Mansion House cake with compote and salted caramel whipped cream was unusual and tasted amazing. We both loved it. Most of the other dishes were delicious too. My strip steak was cooked the way I asked, but it was a poor cut, full of gristle and fat and hard to eat. Our bill for two was $145.22 before tip, and I think bread and butter should be included or comped at a fine dining place when dinner is around $70 per person. We ate here for dinner on 01/17/2026, our first visit, and didn't stay in a room. Janet was our friendly server. It took a while to place our order because she was helping other guests, but once we ordered, the food came quickly. After dinner we briefly toured some rooms downstairs near the dining room. Janet kindly gave us a paper about the mansion's history, which was nice.

We had a lovely anniversary getaway, with dinner and a stay at the Inn. The farm-to-table meal was tasty and the service very good. We had salad, cheese charcuterie, bread, filet mignon with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts, then Mansion House cake and pecan pie. Breakfast was included and came hot, plentiful, and filling: an omelet, bacon, bread, coffee, and homemade peach jam. The Inn and its comfortable rooms reflect a very interesting history. George and Cindy, the owners, came by and shared some of it with us. Highly recommend!

Mansion House 1757 sits on the Confederate retreat route, so if you're visiting Gettysburg for the history, staying there lets you experience it. The rooms are named for historical figures who stayed at the Inn. They're spacious, with high ceilings and updated bathrooms, though some floors are uneven because of the building's age. Proprietor George Keeney was accommodating, arranged our Gettysburg tour, and worked around our schedule. The food was very good, especially the desserts. It's an easy drive to Gettysburg, with good golf courses nearby. I highly recommend staying here.

The cheese plate we ordered as an appetizer was very good, which is the only reason I'm giving this a one-star review. The fish was the worst thing I've tasted, very fishy, and the crab imperial was almost like soup. I ended up with a plate of seafood mush, about a teaspoon of mashed potatoes, and seven brussels sprouts for a $45 dish. Our waitress was transactional, and we felt rushed. When I asked whether they had bread or rolls for the table, I was abruptly told no, without being offered the option to buy any. I only found out about the bread when a table that arrived after us ordered it. A dear friend took me to your restaurant for my birthday, 04/11/2026, and we had a 5:00 reservation. I was so disappointed. I only celebrate my birthday once a year, and this really put a damper on my day.
