Super 8 Motel - Fairfield

The room was clean, the price wasn't bad, and the gentleman who checked me in was nice. Still, I didn't sleep well. Several times late at night and very early in the morning, I was jolted awake by a handful of Latino workers yelling, banging on doors, slamming them, and running loud equipment with no regard for the fact that it was a hotel. This was happening at 5:45 am. I'm not sure how they were affiliated with the hotel.

We booked a room for the family at the last second, and everyone was kind and helpful. The kids loved the pool, and breakfast was awesome. We had an amazing stay!

We were in town for a family reunion in Keosauqua, Iowa, about 20 miles away, and picked the Super 8 for its indoor pool for the grandkids. It's about five minutes from Walmart and a couple of miles from the bypass around Fairfield, Iowa. The staff were friendly, and the desk clerk recognized me as a Wyndham Card Holder since I use the card for all our trip reservations. Saturday's breakfast was among the best I've had at a Super 8. It had scrambled eggs, hot potatoes, bagels and cream cheese, several kinds of muffins and breads, plus the usual contrast with a typical Super 8 breakfast of a muffin, toast, yogurt, and maybe juice. They also had a Belgium Waffle machine, though it was busy the whole half hour we ate, so it was hard to get a waffle. On Sunday there was no hot food besides the waffle maker, just hard boiled eggs and yogurt. We thought there might be hot food every day. The hotel is nice, and we'll stay again. The price and location near activities are worth it.

Breakfast was decent: waffles, cereal, biscuits and gravy, bagels, yogurt, bananas, apples, and orange juice. My wife and I have been here twice this past month, and both times the room was clean and the heater and AC worked well. A note about the shower: turning the valve all the way to hot only gave lukewarm water. Backing it off just a little made it heat up nicely. I'd stay again without hesitation.
