We paid over $250 a night for two nights in a suite, hoping it could serve as a base for extended family celebrating an NDSU graduation. Instead, the room smelled bad and felt unfinished. There was blood or food on the bed comforter, and after I asked staff to replace it, they didn’t bring another until I asked again hours later. The stove was wrecked with burnt food, the kitchen had nothing useful in it, and the master bathroom had no hair dryer. I got one after asking. The photos online didn’t match the hotel, which was replacing furniture. Our suite had bare walls and a mix of old pieces and new, cheap-looking minimalist furniture. That might not matter much on its own, but it felt like they were willing to leave work unfinished before letting guests in. Previous guests hadn’t treated the room carefully, and the hotel hadn’t cleaned up after them properly. I asked staff to come see it. They took pictures, left in a hurry, and never came back. I understand they’re updating the place, but the lack of cleanliness, basic compassion, and hospitality really bothered me. No apology or offer to make things right.

The stay was okay, and I’m just trying to be honest, not complain for the sake of it. The rooms were decent, but the mattresses felt old and the springs worn. Our kids had fun in the pool, though the chlorine in the air made my eyes burn even though I never got in. For what we paid, breakfast wasn’t impressive, and the coffee was very weak.

I’ve stayed at plenty of Wyndham properties over the years, and a lot of them are starting to look worn. This one was newly remodeled, with a spacious room and a bathroom much larger than a typical hotel bathroom. Staff at check-in and in the morning greeted us with smiles. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve had, with lots of choices, including waffles and pancakes. The price felt right, too. In 2026, this hotel gets five stars from me. Nice work, 23rd Ave Americinn. I’ll be back, keep it up!

The pool and hot tub were the biggest letdowns. The pool was cold, and the hot tub barely felt warm and wasn’t working properly. The deck could’ve been cleaner, too. Our room itself was clean, but the paint job was poor and one light bulb was out. We had to ask twice for comforters for the bunk beds. The only thing offered at first was brown top blankets. Service was otherwise okay. The walls need patching, though the hotel seems to be renovating. Breakfast was clean and decent for a complimentary meal.
