Vista Inn And Suites Fargo

The room itself was fairly nice, and our jacuzzi room was a very reasonable price. Check-in was otherwise fine, but the front desk girl wasn't welcoming and mumbled directions with her hand over her mouth. We couldn't understand her and had to wander around to find the room. The hotel's layout was odd, and the maps marked "you are here" made it seem our room was in another building. The bartender wasn't great, and even though the bar had only a few people, we waited for drinks. Continental breakfast didn't impress either. Still, the stay was pretty okay.

The housekeepers were the one bright spot, they were actually friendly. Everything else made for such a bad stay that I've never written a hotel review before, but felt I had to. Front desk staff didn't greet us and were unfriendly. When the pool ran out of towels, I told the desk, and she acted like I'd ruined her night by asking for four. Our room was hot and stuffy because the air didn't work, and the toilet leaked onto the bathroom floor all weekend. They just gave us extra towels. The breakfast area was dirty and the garbage bins were overflowing. Don't spend your money or time here.

The bar had good drinks, and there's a casino. But keep an eye on your card: my buddy booked three rooms for two nights each under his name, then we each put our own card on our room at the hotel. At checkout, he was charged five times, I was charged twice, and the other person wasn't charged at all. They refunded the money, but sorting it out was a hassle.

We never made it to Fargo because our truck broke down while we were moving across the country. Expedia was ready to refund the booking, but said the hotel, Vista, refused. When I called, a manager told me it was their policy to keep payment from guests who couldn't stay. She showed no concern and didn't apologize. She was extremely rude, and when I said I'd write a review, she accused me of threatening her and hung up. For all we know, she was pleased to charge us for the room twice, or pocketed our $82 and rented the already booked room to someone else. We were glad we hadn't stayed there. Keeping a guest's money for nothing, especially when they're dealing with a crisis, doesn't show any care for guests.
