The charge for one night came to $368.80, including a $150.00 cleaning fee on top of the $218.50 room bill. When I questioned it, they said I had smoked in the room. I didn't, and it's hard to dispute their word against mine. After checkout my friend realized his wallet was missing, so two managers took him back to the room to look, and nobody mentioned smoking then. I was also emailed three receipts: $218.80 at 11:00, $368.80 at 11:12, and $218.80 at 11:42. My bank shows two $218.80 charges and another for $150.00. I'm a Marriott member and had called three other hotels before getting a room here because of tournaments in town. Check-in itself was smooth. The hotel lists its rate as $118.00, which seems about what it's worth, so $218.80 at checkout is insane. The night before I stayed at Madison Marriott South in Madison Wisconsin, which felt worth the money. I hope Marriott reviews this place. It doesn't feel like a Marriott luxury hotel, and I wish they'd provide more evidence when a smoking charge is disputed. Do better, Fairfield. This isn't a suite establishment.

Rue at the front desk was especially kind and helpful yesterday afternoon. Everyone was friendly, efficient, and ready to help, and as someone who's worked in sales and management, I know those interactions matter. The hotel itself was fine, and I'd stay again. I was in Fargo for two nights to spend the weekend with my brother and nephew and watch NDSU pummel South Dakota (GO 🦬). There are several restaurants nearby, some within walking distance. Amenities were fine, and the place was a little dated, though it looks like they're modernizing. It felt comparable to a Holiday Inn Select. My main gripe was the old 1980s wall mounted heat and A/C with no thermostat. It's annoyingly loud and the fan seems to run constantly. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels over 30+ years as a sales rep, and still see those units in less populated areas, while most mid-range places have quieter thermostat controlled systems now. Breakfast was pretty good, with waffles, eggs, sausage, breads, muffins, and fresh fruit. The young woman keeping it stocked did a very good job. I'd recommend Fairfield-Fargo. Jones Franklin, IN

The bedding and bed were clean and comfortable, and the towels were new and large. The room itself, though, was dusty and clearly hadn't been vacuumed: I found a plastic clothing tag on the floor, greasy fingerprints and dust on the desk, a dirty mask on a hook, and black hairs in the bathroom and shower. My husband is bald and I have blonde hair, and it was obvious the shower hadn't been cleaned. We had only decaf coffee, barely any toilet paper, and an empty soap dispenser by day one of our weekend stay. I had to go out for regular coffee and ask the front desk for more toilet paper. The toilet is low with a flimsy seat, and the ceiling is low popcorn texture. The hotel looks very dated, and the ripped window shade at the front desk gave a poor first impression. This isn't up to Marriott Bonvoy standards. We won't stay here on a future Fargo visit.

The staff were a bright spot. Housekeeping was polite, respectful, and helpful, and the front desk people were friendly too. The room looked gorgeous, with clean bedding, bathroom and floors, new towels, and big bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The TV worked. I didn't get to use the pool or hot tub, but plan to next time. Fairfield seems both romantic and family oriented, with lots of attractions nearby. The breakfast was among the best I've had at a hotel, more than just continental, with things I'd make at home. Unlike Baymont, Fairfield didn't have bed bugs. I'd have given it five stars except for something horrifying I saw in a vent in the shower. I kept hearing voices, stood on the seat to look inside, and was horrified by what I saw. My friend didn't believe me, even after I took pictures, but others who saw them reacted just as I had, including a few Fairfield workers. I'll post the pictures and would appreciate advice on what steps to take. Thanks for taking the time to read this and share your opinions. I swear on my kids' lives that I haven't edited anything. I'm not good with technology. This is real.

The front desk woman was nice when I checked in, and the room itself seemed cleaned, but the bathroom didn't. There was hair in the tub and on the floor, plus urine spots all over the underside of the toilet seat. I'm a frequent Marriott traveler, usually at Fairfield or Courtyard. The main lobby was under construction, but otherwise the stay was okay.
