Red Roof Inn Fargo - I-94/ Medical Center

We found the location handy, and the staff were friendly. The room was roomy, had what we needed, including a safe, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The curtains even covered the whole window. There are things that could use fixing, sure. Breakfast wasn't really for us since we're not waffle or pancake people, so we passed, though there were cereals and pastries too. Keeping a home in perfect shape is hard enough, let alone a hotel.

The location is convenient, and the employees were nice, but there are too many basic problems for the points to make staying here worthwhile. The two floors have no elevator or luggage cart, and there isn't a self-serve water option or any fountains. Nearby, the car wash sells water and there is fast food. Breakfast choices are limited. On Sunday the biscuits and gravy ran out of gravy, there was no jelly or peanut butter for waffles or toast, and both the orange juice and coffee were weak. I did like the iron that makes individual small waffles. There was a lot of engine noise in the parking lot at night, and hallway sounds carried right into the room. The indoor pool sits beside the breakfast area, with windows that let noise in. It's not great trying to eat with a bunch of unsupervised, noisy kids nearby. In the room, the shower drain was damaged, the liquid soap dispenser by the sink was empty, and the faucets sprayed water all over the counter, getting toiletries wet. The toilet seat was loose.

The staff handled our request to switch rooms really well, and the location was great. We're car people, so we spent a little time walking around a car meet that was happening there. The pool and hot tub were nice too. The rooms were another matter. Both had a heavy mildew smell, like laundry left sitting in a washer for three days. The first room's odor was almost enough to knock you over. We didn't have much choice, though, so we stayed.

For my one night, the room was quiet and clean, and the front desk happily gave me makeup remover wipes when I realized I'd forgotten mine. Breakfast was all cold food, but there was a nice range of fresh items.
