Delta Hotels by Marriott Detroit Novi

I stayed here for more than seven days while traveling for work. The hotel is nice and chic, but the atmosphere wasn't very pleasant, and employees seemed like they didn't like their jobs. The two women with offices up front, who may be the managers or general managers, never spoke to me and had no customer service skills. The front desk staff were nice, but came across as doing the least they could to get me out of their way. Housekeeping were rude and barely seemed willing to talk when I asked for basic supplies and replacements. As a Titanium Elite Member for Marriot, I didn't feel as welcomed as I should have. I'm not sure if they just don't prefer Black people staying here, or if they're this way with everyone. The hotel staff do the bare minimum and don't go out of their way to treat elite guests well or with a positive attitude. Both TVs in my room had trouble connecting by Bluetooth to my cellular devices. That was a pain since I like watching and listening to things the hotel's TV service doesn't have. I may or may not come back. The whole stay gave me bad vibes.

Gigi made a lasting impression on me. From the moment I arrived, she was kind and attentive, making sure I was comfortable and had what I needed. Her genuine care made a big part of the stay feel welcoming and well looked after. The pool experience was the opposite. The security guard was rude and unprofessional, coming across as dismissive and unnecessarily harsh instead of helpful. It made the area feel uncomfortable and uninviting, and took away from what should have been a relaxing part of the stay. I really appreciated Gigi's excellent service, but the situation at the pool was disappointing. I hope the hotel sees the difference in service quality. Gigi represents the kind of hospitality guests hope for, and the pool experience needs improvement.

Gigi makes guests feel cared for, treating people with real kindness and sincerity rather than like transactions. She's also remarkably attentive to detail, from making sure rooms are ready to anticipating needs and handling unexpected situations calmly and efficiently. You can tell she takes pride in her work. The hotel runs smoothly, even when it's busy, and her staff clearly respect her. Her leadership brings a positive energy to the guest experience. From the moment you walk through the doors, her presence shows in thoughtful details, while her warmth and professionalism make guests feel like VIPs. Gigi is the heart of the place, not just its manager. Anyone staying at her hotel is in capable hands.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but our room wasn't very clean. My husband and I had room 315 from Friday, October 31st to Sunday, November 2nd, and there weren't enough towels. I also found condom wrappers and lots of candy wrappers under the bed after dropping my comb. Overall, cleanliness wasn't good. It wasn't the worst stay, but it wasn't the best either.
