Hampton Inn Daytona Shores-Oceanfront

The notice at the counter says the hotel’s private beach access has been under repair since 11/1/25. You can still reach the beach by walking 2 blocks, but this is an oceanfront property where guests can’t walk straight down to the ocean. Six months to fix one flight of stairs seems insane. I’m sure a CS agent will jump in to discredit this review. We’ll choose a different property next time, one that understands how urgent it is to repair a key hotel feature on time. If you want an oceanfront stay without actual access to the ocean, stay here.

I don’t understand how Hilton shows this hotel at 4.3 out of 5 stars. It must be a lot of Hilton employees leaving reviews to keep it that high. The place isn’t maintained, and the manager seems never to look around the resort and fix or replace simple things. This hotel needs new management. Stay away unless you have to stay there.

The views are lovely, especially the sunrise over the coast, and the nearby walking paths are nice. But those areas are open to the public, so I wouldn’t choose this property just for the scenery. Heavy remodeling made it hard to enter the building, with scaffolding blocking the main entrance, and only one of the two elevators was working, causing regular delays. Service also fell short. On my second day I asked for two complimentary bottles of water and staff gave an unsavory response, saying “Silver tier” members aren’t entitled to extra water. I’ve stayed at many Hilton properties, and that policy felt inconsistent with the brand.

The higher-floor room was almost perfect, recently redone and properly cleaned, though its AC was still noisy but tolerable. The first night in the original room I couldn’t sleep because its AC was the noisiest I’ve ever heard. The room smelled old, the chair and curtains were stained, and the balcony door wouldn’t fully close or lock. A small person couldn’t open it without strength. The maintenance guy told me they’d known about the door for months, so I consider that a safety hazard. Management knowing about a hazard is inexcusable, and renting that room feels like fraud. I wanted a full refund for night #1. The hotel covered my parking because of the inconvenience. I’m a Hilton Gold member and had stayed at Hampton Inns, but not this Daytona Shores location. I didn’t realize it was under construction and the rooms were being renovated when I booked. Weekends were quiet, which was a plus, but with 1/2 the spaces blocked off, parking was hard and still cost $15/night. Staff were very nice, especially the breakfast woman, who did a great job with a decent buffet selection. The waffle maker was horrible, taking about 10 min for one waffle. I didn’t see beach access from the pool, so you’d have to walk around the hotel. The higher you go, the better the awesome view. Restaurants and convenience stores are within walking distance, and the area is quieter with less traffic. I’ve traveled the world and wouldn’t stay here again. If you do, avoid floors 3 and under.
