Rose House Inn

The house itself is lovely, and I usually enjoy antiques. Old creaky floors don’t bother me either, but we probably won’t stay again because the price didn’t feel like good value. We were there for one night and never saw anyone, even though we stayed in the main house. There was no friendly greeting when we arrived, and no hot breakfast despite what was advertised. The mattress was very old and uncomfortable. The bathroom was fine, with a hot shower and a small heater provided. Such a missed opportunity. Customer service feels gone.

The innkeeper was polite and gave us a short tour and some history, which I enjoyed hearing. We stayed upstairs in the two-room suite with our three girls, and had a great time. The beds were very comfortable, the shower nice and hot, and breakfast was delicious. I’d definitely recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone wanting a quiet, pleasant place to rest in the area.

We came to town for one night hoping for an antique-style room and a warm breakfast, but that wasn’t what we found. The rooms were hot and tiny, and the bathroom was very small. There was no breakfast, despite what the website reviews would have led us to expect. The guest book was full of complaints. We walked in and walked right back out. What a disappointment.

Quiet and quaint, and a clean room made for a good night’s sleep. I arrived late, found my key, and got to the room on my own. I’d call it an Inn more than a B&B. It doesn’t have the big dining room or family-style meals you find at many New England B&Bs, and food isn’t really part of the stay. Breakfast is self-serve coffee and packaged granola bars, like at a budget hotel. Still, the house and town are charming, and it was a great place to stop on a long drive. I’d recommend staying.
