The veranda and dining room at Carnall Hall made a lovely setting for our small wedding reception, and the photos came out beautifully. The reception itself, though, felt haphazard despite months of planning. We lost time with our guests, missed our first dance, and many people didn't get cake and coffee before the night ended. Neither coordinator we'd worked with was there, and the staff seemed not to know the schedule or had lost track of it. Planning was difficult too. We often had to ask the same question several times just to get a yes or no, and some details were inconsistent. We didn't keep track of every small thing, especially with the automatic 22% gratuity, and it affected the event. Changes to the menu and day-of operations weren't clearly discussed with us. After dozens of emails, several calls, and two in-person meetings, the entrée change appeared in just one document. The “new” roasted chicken was gummy, and most guests left it uneaten. Read everything carefully and take detailed notes. We later learned the lead coordinator was leaving and there was a gap before a replacement arrived. I suspect that contributed to how things went, so I hope our experience was an outlier. We were disappointed with the value and, more than that, with how our one wedding day turned out. We shared our concerns with the venue hoping future couples have a better experience. They apologized, but of course they can't turn back the clock for us.

Charlotte at the bar was the highlight of my work trip last week. I came in early when I was the only one there, and she took great care of me. We ended up having a really good conversation too. The hotel was clean and the staff kind, but service like hers is hard to find. They've got a gem in Charlotte.

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. They don't tell you until the day you arrive that there's no AC in the hotel, and they won't offer a refund or any compensation. There's plenty more wrong with the place, but that's the main thing people should know. I would never recommend staying here.

It had a cozy feel, the staff were really friendly, and the location was great. Everything was clean too. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

Terrance greeted me when I checked in for a conference and made a great first impression. He was pleasant, professional, easy to talk to, and gave me useful local restaurant suggestions. You can tell he works hard. At the restaurant, Sam and Jesse were just as warm. They helped me figure out my food budget with the tax and included 20% gratuity on the tab, answered all my questions patiently, and stayed positive. They seem to get along really well. I slept well in the very comfortable bed. Just know the bathroom has limited counter space. You can hear people walking past the rooms, though most were considerate. Thanks to everyone from the front desk to the restaurant, I really enjoyed my stay.
