Comfort Inn Fergus Falls

The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly enough, about what I’d expect from a Choice Hotel. But this may be my least favorite stay at one. Water in my room smelled of mildew or mold, and it wasn’t just the coffee maker. The smell came from both the sink and shower too. I understand that renovations mean construction, and that cities usually have noise ordinances so people can rest within reason. I work nights, and I was woken from a deep sleep at 0600 by someone shifting a ladder down the hall. It shook the lampshades on the fixtures. I don’t blame the contractor for making noise; management allowed the work to start that early instead of at another time. I know it can be hard to keep everyone happy about scheduling, but if checkout is at 9, maybe work could start at 8? Other people may work nights too.

I’d hoped to have a comfortable Christmas getaway while visiting family, but the experience was bad. The room was dirty, and the whole hotel smelled strongly of marijuana. When I told the front desk, they sprayed so much cologne that I could taste it. I said I didn’t want to stay anymore, but they refused to refund my two nights. I did everything I could to avoid being there except to sleep. The staff seemed shady, and I think the workers may have been part of why it smelled so much like marijuana. Zero stars, don’t stay here.

My coworkers had to cancel because of unsanitary conditions, and I found the place dirty with rude people and terrible customer service. Be careful with the refund policy and don’t buy the extra cancellation option. They won’t return any of your money, even when it says nothing is due until arrival. It’s been several days, and whenever I call about the refund I either get hung up on or left on hold forever. Typical scammers, as usual. I’d tell anyone considering this place to think again.

Payal made our stay a good one, and she handled an emergency with real professionalism. Give her a raise! The hotel was nice, with an indoor pool, and breakfast was yummy with some nice options. I’d recommend staying here again :)
