Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Madison Fitchburg

There's a park, grocery store, beautiful pavilion, and plenty of good restaurants and shops within walking distance. Guests can also use three washing machines and four dryers for free. It's an affordable, very family-friendly hotel with plenty for kids and adults. The pool and hot tub are small but more than adequate. From the general manager, Nicholas, through the front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance, the people and cleanliness make this a great place to stay. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a nice hotel.

The breakfast was awful for the price of the room. There was no hot food except bagels or bread you could heat or toast, and the cereal choices were Cheerios and Rice Krispies. The only milk was fat-free, there was no juice, and the only yogurt was vanilla. I'd expect at least a Super 8-level breakfast for what you pay here. I wouldn't recommend the hotel. We had a king suite, but the bedroom had no ductwork for AC. A wall fan was supposed to move air between the two rooms, and it wasn't enough. To make the bedroom a reasonable temperature, the kids on the pullout had to sleep in a cold room. The bedroom and bathroom doors weren't level, so they swung shut and stayed that way.

The event went better than I expected. The staff stayed on top of things and made sure I had all the equipment I needed, and the catered food was delicious. From the start, the person handling event bookings was kind and helpful, checked that our needs would be met, and reassured us we'd made the right choice. I'm very happy with how it all went and definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. I'll be back!

The rooms are roomy, with space for a shared table and two beds, and each has a small kitchen with a microwave, stove, and refrigerator. It's a clean place, only a short drive from the U Madison campus. Fantastic hotel, I'd stay here again without hesitation.
