Rodeway Inn Flagstaff - Downtown

I arrived way before check-in, so the friendly woman at the desk offered to hold my things. I went exploring and found something to eat. The location worked well without a car, and when I walked back she had a room ready ahead of check-in time. It was a small, clean room, but I was alone and didn’t mind. The bed was amazing, probably the most comfortable I’ve had at a motel. I’d definitely stay again.

I had to cancel my Roadway Inn reservation because of a family emergency. On my first call, I explained what happened and was told I could get a refund, but their system was having problems and I should call back later. I called several times over two days and kept getting the same explanation. Then I spoke with Toni, who said the reservation was non-refundable, despite what I’d been told before. I stayed polite and calm, but when I asked to speak with a manager for clarification, she said I could talk to one the next day and hung up. I called back to ask her name. She said, “I don’t want to talk to you,” and hung up again. That treatment was rude and unprofessional, especially when I was only trying to make sense of conflicting information. The hotel’s response thanked me, but said the reservation policy was the issue. That missed my point: it was the inconsistent answers and how I was treated. I understand the policy, but I’d first been told a refund was possible and to call back because the system was down. After several calls, another employee said no refund was possible and then hung up when I asked for a manager. I was calm and polite throughout. At this point, it’s not about getting the refund. It’s about being treated with basic courtesy when asking for clarity. I’m sure management knows about these issues, given the many other reviews describing similar experiences and the hotel’s 2.5-star rating, but it seems nothing changes. I hope things improve, though based on my experience and those reviews, I’m not holding my breath. The customer service is extremely poor, and the staff were dismissive and unhelpful. They don’t seem to care about guests’ situations or basic courtesy. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The location was handy, but road noise and food smells from other places made it into the room. My first room hadn't been cleaned, and the next one was freezing because the heat didn't work. Still, I guess you get what you pay for.

You really can't beat the location. The room was tiny, though that was fine since I was by myself, and it was just okay for the price. Check-in felt a little odd: I arrived late and the woman moved me through quickly, maybe because she was ready to head home.
