Travelodge by Wyndham Northern Arizona University Downtown

I agreed to a $130 price when I made a phone reservation with Wyndham and gave them my card. They told me it was non-refundable. When we arrived at the hotel, the man at the desk charged us over $200 instead, disregarding the reservation. We were exhausted, so we thought we’d sort it out in the morning. He was rude when I tried to talk to him and would only speak to my husband. There was no way to have a conversation with him. Then he tried to add extra charges, even though the hotel hadn’t honored the price we agreed to. A woman deserves the same respect as her husband. I don’t use “misogynist” lightly, but unfortunately this rude man fits the description. I’m contacting corporate because I don’t want to keep patronizing a company that handles check-in this way. I’d gladly pay more somewhere else for honesty and respect.

After a long trip, walking into an unmade room full of beer cans was a bad start. The room I was assigned at the Bates Motel was dirty, so I asked the manager to move me. He didn’t seem happy about it. In the second room, I found human hair on the pillows, a dead bug under the sheets, pubic hair, and dark stains on the bedding. I’d suggest lifting the mattress and sheets if you’re considering staying here. I guarantee you might find something. I expected to pay around $50 a night for the reservation. When I asked for my money back, management was rude and unhelpful, and I spent the day trying to find somewhere else to stay.

For the price, it’s a decent place to spend the night. The rooms are small and have older furniture, but they seemed clean. The bed was soft, and the linens and small bathroom were clean too. The shower is small and the water pressure was on the low side. The microwave and mini fridge worked, and the TV had basic cable and HBO. Walgreens is across the street, and downtown is a mile away.

I just needed somewhere for one night, and this older Travelodge did the job. I already knew it was an older motel, and it wasn’t necessarily off the beaten path search. I’d put it around two or three stars. The proprietor was very nice.
