Courtyard Florence

The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly, but I wouldn't come back. There was no soap in the shower dispenser, so I had to step out and fetch the soap from my bag. The bistro food was awful: they couldn't make my burger well done because the patties were premade, and the flatbread pizza came out soggy and limp. For what the hotel and food cost, it just wasn't worth it.

The pool was a nice temperature, though I wish there were a hot tub. The front desk staff were friendly, as was the housekeeper with red and black braids. The rooms are laid out nicely, but cleanliness needs work. There was an empty chip bag and a bottle cap in the room when we arrived, and the tub had stains and a discolored floor. An older housekeeper came in at 9 even though checkout wasn't until 11.

The bar had a lively crowd, and even with the hotel busy, the bartenders were quick, welcoming, and kept things comfortable. I also saw management checking in with staff and guests and helping things run smoothly. The employees I met, from the front desk to housekeeping and the bar, were friendly, professional, and glad to help. The place was clean throughout, from the lobby and common areas to the room, and everything felt well cared for. Check-in was easy, and the atmosphere made this a particularly enjoyable Courtyard by Marriott Florence stay. This was one of my better experiences with the brand. I'd recommend it if you're staying around Florence or just passing through.

Thankfully, I was only there for 10 hours. The first two rooms and the halls smelled like something dead was rotting under the bed. The three female employees agreed that those rooms stunk and found me one that didn't smell of cigarettes and death. They were spectacular. The bartender, though, was so rude I wondered how he still had a job. I've never had a problem at a Marriott before, but this building should be demolished. I couldn't find the Hilton when I searched for hotels in Florence. Don't go. Also, the phones flash red because they're malfunctioning, and apparently nothing can be done to stop it.
