Rodeway Inn Florence - Cincinnati South

I ended up in Florence for two days because a snowstorm kept me from getting to work. The front desk person was polite, and the bed was clean and comfortable. The microwave and refrigerator worked, the shower got hot with good pressure, and the TV was okay, though only analog was available. For the price, it was okay. The floor had soft spots, and the tub looked dirty, though it was probably just old. The toilet didn’t flush well. Workers in the hallway seemed to ignore guests, and breakfast was only Frosted Flakes or Raisin Bran. The lighting was poor, with just lamps.

The towels and sheets seemed clean, but the room needed basic upkeep. There were small holes in the walls where towel racks had been removed, the tub needed replacing, and the floor had soft spots beneath the carpet. Breakfast was just a bowl of cornflakes. I wouldn’t have stayed if I’d been traveling with my wife and family.

The room was simple, clean, and well maintained, and the bed was comfortable. Staff were welcoming, check-in was quick, and the place felt safe and quiet at night. Parking was free and easy to access, and restaurants and gas stations were nearby. The A/C worked great. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was for the price, and would recommend it if you want an affordable stay with peace of mind.

A very disappointing stay. There were bed bugs on the pillow, including baby ones I had to kill, with little blood smears alongside marks from bugs that had apparently been killed before. The room window wouldn’t latch, so someone from the back parking lot could have pushed it open and gotten in. The TV didn’t work, and they moved us after we asked. Hallways reeked of marijuana. The bathroom was below par, with empty soap and shampoo dispensers. The carpet hid floor holes that sank three or four inches underfoot. They also wanted to charge $25 to a credit card for amenities or damages, but there were no amenities, and the place was already in rough shape. Breakfast was advertised as continental, but all they had was toast bread, cold cereal, half a jug of expired milk, no coffee, and a juice machine with only cranberry juice. If I were corporate headquarters, I’d look into whoever runs this franchise. It’s below any hotel standard I’d consider acceptable.
