Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Foley - North Gulf Shores

We had a really enjoyable Christmas vacation and would come back. The hot tub and pool were nice, the bed was comfortable, and the full-size fridge in our suite was handy. Restaurants are all over the area, and the beach is a 20-minute drive away. Breakfast was good, though there wasn't fruit, and the $25 pet fee seemed fair. A few things could be better: housekeeping missed some cleaning, the dishwasher didn't clean dishes, and the DirecTV setup meant we couldn't stream Hulu or other shows. Staff were friendly enough. A broom might come in handy.

My sisters came in from out of state and stayed one night. They said the room was really clean and the service was great. Someone, either the housekeeper or the front desk worker, walked them to their room, helped them feel welcome, and made sure they had what they needed for a comfortable stay. I'd recommend Ecknolodge to family and friends, and my sisters would too.

We had what we needed for a week of exploring and geocaching at the Bamarama event. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and we especially liked being so close to the shops. Breakfast was enough, and the coffee was great. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful.

For my purposes, the location worked, the room was fine, the price was good, and the front desk service was above average. The problem is that it's a smoking property, and smokers were hard to avoid. They gathered by the entrance, outside the elevator, and along the sidewalks. I'd likely pay a bit more to stay somewhere else. If smoke doesn't bother you, I'd recommend this place.
