North Cliff Hotel

We booked the superior king suite on a last minute decision during our drive along the coast, and I'm glad we did. The king bed had a thick, comfortable mattress, and the room also had a jacuzzi tub and gas fireplace. Heating comes from the floor. I usually have trouble sleeping without A/C, but the provided box fan and open balcony door worked fine for me. The balcony looked out over the beautiful Noya river and Pacific Ocean, and the ocean sounds and navigation horns made a lovely backdrop. Booking direct also got us a choice of white wine, prosecco, or sparkling cider, plus a basket with bath bombs, chocolate, and face masks.

The ocean views were beautiful, but the rest of the stay was disappointing for the price. The room smelled strongly of cat urine, and an extremely loud foghorn went off every 30 seconds all night, making sleep almost impossible. Neither issue was disclosed before booking. There were no USB charging ports in the room, either.

The rooms are huge and super clean, check in was quick, and the staff were friendly. Best view on the coast, plus wonderful double jetted tubs. Lovely property. We'll stay again and again.

After our original trip was cancelled, we decided to head to Fort Bragg. I'd always wanted to stay here after driving past the motel before. It was booked when we arrived, so we got a first floor room. The mattress was so old I had to crawl over the wooden frame to get out of bed, and someone turned on a hot tub in another room at 6:40 a.m. The next morning, Michell, the GM, sorted it out and moved us to another room. I'm dealing with car trouble today and enjoying the balcony view. Breakfast is grab and go, so we've been eating out. I'd stay again if I could get this room.
