Mountainside Inn

After long hikes and maybe a star party, all I wanted was a clean, comfortable room to come back to. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was good, and there was a mini fridge and microwave. We stayed in the hideout room, which had an alleyway that seemed to be just for us to park in. Nobody promised us a view, but we had great views outside the room. It was also easy to walk around town from here. I was really pleased and would stay again on my next visit.

What really made this a five star stay for me was the feel of the shared kitchen and living room. Making coffee there in the morning was lovely, and I can imagine it being a nice place to spend time with other guests when it's busier. Someone clearly cares about the space. We changed our camping plans at the last minute but still wanted to attend a star party, and the kitchen came in handy when we got back after the restaurants had closed around 9pm. We warmed up some of our camping food, haha. It's shared, so keep the noise down. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot. Some rooms might feel a bit cold in winter. It was fine for us, and the space heater worked well, but it could catch someone by surprise.

The check-in and check-out process was clearly explained over text before we arrived, which made communication exceptional. Our room was clean and roomy enough for our family of five, and the inn was close to Fort Davis amenities. It was just what we wanted while traveling through Texas, and we enjoyed our stay.

We loved sitting on the porch and looking at the mountains, and the Hideaway Room was quiet, clean, and comfortable after a long drive. We stayed one night on a longer road trip to attend a star party at nearby McDonald Observatory. Check-in was easy: the Inn staff texted the instructions that morning, and it all went smoothly. We'd definitely recommend the Mountainside Inn to anyone traveling to or through Fort Davis.
