W Fort Lauderdale

We loved the location, with so many places within easy walking distance and the beach right across the street. The room was beautiful and had a breathtaking ocean view. Staff were very nice and offered us a late checkout. Breakfast at Elvez was a special treat, with fun ideas you don't usually see at hotels from this Mexican restaurant. The steakhouse was amazing too, with friendly staff and an upscale feel.

Franco and Sam made our beach day, taking great care of my friend and me from the moment we arrived. They helped us get chairs and umbrellas, checked that we were comfortable, and brought a friendly, professional, fun energy that made everything easy. The beach service really stood out. The hotel itself was beautiful, right on the beach, with clean, stylish rooms and stunning ocean views. The atmosphere was lively but still upscale, just right for our girls' trip. I do wish we'd been told before booking that the WET West Deck pool was closed for repairs. Finding out only after booking was disappointing, since the pool scene is part of the W experience. We can't wait to come back.

The hotel pool was excellent, the bartenders were attentive, and the drinks weren't too expensive. The elevators, though, took ages to arrive, and I still don't know why. The hotel has clearly been remodeled, although some parts, like the room balconies, look dated. Service from housekeeping and the valets was great: check-in and valet were smooth, and my sheets and towels were changed every day. It's right across from the beach, near lots of shops and restaurants, and complimentary beach chairs are provided. I'll definitely stay here next time I'm in Fort Lauderdale.

The hotel had zero value for me, even on points. Rooms are basic and extremely dark, with very little lighting. The bathroom setup is gross: you can't close the bathroom door, and the bedroom has a view into the shower, so one person's light can hit the other while they're trying to sleep. The whole place reeks of a pungent, chemical lemon air freshener. They charge a resort fee for pool amenities while the main pool is closed. They told me the other pool was open, but it's shoved in the back and completely crowded. Why close the best pool during the busy season? As a platinum elite, I also love being told the resort fee includes Wi-Fi that I always get free. The place looks like it hasn't been renovated since it was built, probably in the 90s. I'd never stay here again.
