Comfort Inn Fort Myers Northeast

We booked online, then I called to check whether the room was ready. They told me the elevators weren’t working and offered us a room on the first floor, which I appreciated. The lobby and room were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good, and Cracker Barrel and Starbucks are only a short walk away. It’s just minutes from downtown Fort Myers and right by I-75. We were pleasantly surprised by the room and services, especially after seeing reviews that gave it only 3.5.

We were too tired to drive all the way between Miami and Tampa, so we stopped here and booked two inexpensive rooms. They were clean, but each had around 20 small roaches in the bathroom and walls. When we told the front desk, the person just nodded like it was familiar news. I didn’t see any in the beds, so we did our best to sleep, but be warned.

After dinner across the street, I came back to room 207 to shower. Turning on the bathroom light, I saw four roaches run under the toilet. Then I spotted more small ones on the floor between the two queen beds; they scattered underneath when I turned on the light. As I turned back for my things, I saw two more on the floor. I took pictures and video downstairs to the desk. Ashlee, the clerk, was cool and helpful and tried to reach her boss, Trevor. He took 20 minutes to respond and was only going to offer a discount. I said that wasn’t good enough and asked for a full refund. Ashlee tried for another 20 minutes, then finally got him again. He said he’d have to talk to the manager in the morning. After I threatened to contact DBPR in the morning, Trevor changed his tune and apologized for my experience, agreeing to a full refund. It’s sad Ashlee had to deal with a boss like Trevor.

Cockroaches. I checked in and noticed a couple of small bugs in the bathroom, then saw more in the tub and two large ones on the nightstand and lamp. I took pictures and found they were cockroaches at different stages of life. I left in a hurry the next morning, but was still charged for half a day. When I told the staff, they didn’t seem surprised.
