I stayed about a month ago. The room looked decent and things seemed fine until I picked up the TV remote. Its back fell off right away and the batteries were dead. I was exhausted after a long flight, so I carried on and went about my day. The next morning I went to the lobby for batteries. A woman who said she was a manager started claiming I’d broken the remote. She gave me a replacement with tape holding the back on, which makes me think a lot of their remotes are probably like the one I had. Upstairs, I turned on the TV and saw a huge crack with white lines across the screen. I called the front desk to report it, and the “manager” started talking over me rudely, accusing me of breaking it. She said she checks every room to make sure everything is set up and works. Clearly she hadn’t, since she missed the broken/dead remote and cracked TV. After going back and forth as politely as I could, I hung up. I wasn’t going to put up with being accused of something I didn’t do and then told they’d charge me for the TV. Twenty minutes later, the same woman called back, still rude and upset that I’d hung up, and said she was sending the police to remove me. I’d written a review describing what happened, and a day or 2 later the “managed” lady called again and tried to lie about what was said and done. After a minute or 2, she offered to refund about $100 for one day’s stay if I deleted the review. It’s been a month and some time, and no money has come back, so here’s the review again 🤷🏾. Wonderful neighborhood and decent looking rooms, terrible staff 💯
Service was A+, and the room was clean and had everything working. There were ice trays and pans, no bugs, working elevators, and nobody questionable hanging around. I only stayed because it was too late to cancel, since other locations had put me off. This one was great, though. At busy times, getting out of the parking lot might take a minute, so plan for that. I’d stay at this location again, but definitely not the others.
At checkout, the desk gate was down, so I used the phone to reach staff. The woman who answered was kind of rude and said I could’ve left the key cards in the room. There were plenty of lobby instructions, but nothing about leaving keys there if staff weren’t available. I won’t stay at another of these hotels. The trouble started at check-in, when the attendant spoke to me like I was a long-term resident, including telling me to leave my trash outside the building. There were only two pillows, and I was told I couldn’t have more. I was also instructed to bring used towels to the front desk for replacements. A housekeeper I saw said she couldn’t exchange the linens. When I went to swap the towels, both staff members were away from the desk, and they came back together. The desk gate was down while staff were away.
The room smelled like cigarettes, so we had to switch rooms, and two days later we were finding baby roaches everywhere. The whole place feels like a box, with three doors between you and the room, the first two locked by keycard. There’s no breakfast, not even coffee. The $150 deposit is way too much. Other hotels usually charge $50, and this one wants double. We had to figure out where to get that money, and ended up sleeping in our vehicle in the parking lot. We have a service pet, which was already an issue. Early check-in costs another $50, which is ridiculous, but they waived it when they realized we had a service pet, which was good. I called today because the $150 showed up as a charge instead of a security deposit. They said there’s a $3.50-a-day lining fee, supposedly listed on the website, but I checked and saw nothing. These people are greedy and will do whatever they can to keep your deposit. Don’t come here.
I was told Choice Hotels early check-in usually costs $10 an hour. But when I arrived after booking online, the woman tried to overcharge me. The person ahead of me got early check-in for free, and she even gave him special liberties, while treating me like garbage. I have it all on.
