We stayed at The Courtland Hotel & Spa in Fort Scott, KS on February 14th, 2026, and had a lovely time. Frank greeted us himself and made us feel welcome right away. He also gave us the “nickel tour” and pointed out some of the hotel’s character. Room 15 had a King bed and plenty of space for my partner and me. It was just right for a relaxing overnight visit. We only stayed one night, so we didn’t get to try the spa or other amenities, but we’d absolutely come back. Highly recommend it when visiting Fort Scott.

We were in town for a short weekend, and this historic hotel sits right in downtown Fort Scott, close to everything we did. The rooms are on the second floor and there’s no elevator, but the old-time charm is lovely. Cheryl, the owner, and her daughter were so welcoming and made us feel at home. Our room, Room 1, was in the southeast corner near the sign. I was happy with it: clean, spacious, comfortable, and cozy, with a good-sized bathroom. It had a mini-refrig, high ceilings, and a ceiling fan. The antique furniture around the room and building was really cool. Breakfast is served on the main floor early, at 6am. It was a very pleasant stay.

Frank was great, really helpful and friendly, and the room was nice with comfortable beds. The historic building gave it a homey feel, and it’s close to everything. Fort Scott, restaurants, and shopping are all within walking distance. We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re in the area.

Frank and Cheryl, the owners, know how to make guests feel welcome and were very friendly. I stayed one night in this wonderful historic hotel and loved it. The bed was comfortable, the AC kept the room cool, and the shower was great. Several restaurants and bars are within walking distance, and I’ll stay here again when I’m in the area.
