Hampton Inn Ft. Wayne/Dupont Road

Breakfast was hot and pretty average, with eggs, sausage, muffins, and potatoes. The bigger issue was our first room on the third floor. It and the halls smelled horribly musty, and since I’m allergic to mold and have asthma, my ears and throat began burning and I could barely breathe. The manager was genuinely helpful and moved us to another room. Still, the whole hotel seemed overdue for renovation and paint. The elevator floor was stained, and its carpet smelled.

We came to Ft Wayne unexpectedly for a funeral, and the team worked with us at the last minute to allow an early arrival and late departure. Everyone was thoughtful, compassionate, accommodating, and courteous. Most places would start with an apology, but here they started by asking how they could help. That kind of service feels rare these days. The hotel was clean and breakfast was good. I can’t say enough about the staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

The stairway smelled strongly of weed for two days, so we stopped using it. The lobby had that smell once, too, which was disgusting. I know they can’t control people’s actions, but they could check the stairs more often, use a deodorizer, or enforce the no-smoking rule. I don’t expect this at a Hilton. Even so, we had a great stay and would come back. The room was clean and nice, breakfast was good, and the staff were phenomenal, friendly, accommodating, and always smiling.

We had to switch rooms because the first door wouldn’t latch securely into the wall. The second room was fine. The place is older, but clean, and the staff were nice. Good location, though the floors and walls are thin enough that we could hear neighbors and kids talking and people walking.
