Hyatt Place Fort Wayne - Northwest

I drove up in May to pick up my son from college and tried this hotel because the rates were reasonable. The check-in staff were pleasantly friendly and welcoming, and the refurbished room was perfect. Once the makeover is finished, I think this will be a hidden gem I'll want to gatekeep. Oops, I think I just let it out of the bag. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm in town.

I had a stress-free, restful night in a king room on the 4th floor. The bed was so comfortable I wish I could've taken it home. The hotel was very clean and tastefully furnished, and the room looked recently renovated. The shower got decently hot and had good pressure. Breakfast was decent for a continental breakfast. No complaints, though a bathroom fan would help with the condensation after a shower.

After a long day, the friendly, fast staff were much appreciated. The clean floors were a relief too, with no mysterious mess waiting to surprise me. My room was clean, the bed was neatly tucked in, and the pillows were full and fluffy instead of smashed down. It had a comfortable pillow top, and my back loved it. I also liked the real coffee cups and glassware. It's the small things. There are lots of places nearby, so check the map for movies, ice cream, and Asian stores.

The location was great, and the front desk was welcoming. Breakfast and the rooms were OK, but the elevators are outdated. The housekeeper on the second floor rolled her eyes when I asked for a towel and kept complaining about how tired she was. The bathroom was outdated and the beds uncomfortable. Other than that, it's a two-star hotel.
