The front desk guy was personable and nice, and the recently renovated rooms make this a decent stay for the price. I paid about $88 after using my $13 Hotels.com credit. They should add some protein to breakfast, and I’d like dumbbells or another kind of weight machine for fitness. Even so, it’s worth it for a one-night stay, especially when I’m traveling for kids’ sports.

It looked a bit sketchy around the property, and while the room seemed decent at first, the dirty corners made the low rating make sense. I found hairs on the bedspread, the shower door water stains hadn’t been cleaned, and my toddlers’ feet were black from walking barefoot. Wouldn’t recommend it.

After driving more than 12 hours straight, we stopped here on a whim just to sleep, and it did the job. The front desk person was friendly enough, the bathroom was nice, and breakfast was about what you’d expect at a cheap hotel. But the room and hotel needed a lot of work: stained sheets with several black hairs, mystery marks on the headboard, chair, light switches, and bathroom wall, plus debris on carpet in the room, hallways, and stairwells. It didn’t seem vacuumed anywhere. The hot tub water was cloudy and yellow. Fine for a quick road break, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

The rooms are delightful, with comfortable beds and pillows, fridges, microwaves, and coffee machines. TV service is outstanding, but the Internet is slow and spotty. I enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub on my last visit. This time, every window and door was open when I went down to work out, turning the indoor pool into an outdoor one. Apparently steam from the pool and hot tub created a chlorine cloud that set off the hotel smoke detectors. There must be another way to handle that so guests can enjoy the facilities. The gym is still closed, and I was told it’ll be another two months. When hotels have repairs like this, I’ve seen them arrange access to a nearby property’s gym or pool. Few travelers may use it, but those of us who plan workouts would appreciate it. I also mentioned the poor shower water pressure to the helpful, positive front desk worker, in case it can be addressed. Breakfast still has no protein, the area is poorly lit, and nobody monitors it to keep it clean and appetizing. On Tuesday evening I wasn’t greeted at check-in. The desk worker was deep in the office on his phone, and I had to tap the desk and raise my voice before he helped me. He did acknowledge my loyalty status. When I got off the elevator on the fourth floor, there was a foul odor and an overflowing trash can. I took a photo and told the desk worker, who didn’t seem to care or apologize and said it would be handled the next day. It was worse the next morning. The gentleman working the desk Thursday night was the same excellent person who helped me last time, and I’m grateful for him. He makes this location a delight. Also, kudos for hosting all the power line and tree cutting crews in Nashville who are restoring power and dealing with thousands of fallen trees.

I stayed by myself with my small dog for 3 1/2 weeks, and the staff treated me with kindness and respect. I use a wheelchair, and they went out of their way to help with what I needed, even getting my wheelchair in and out of my car. I’m so grateful to have had a safe, clean place to stay. I’ll definitely return and recommend it to friends and family.
