Best Budget Inn

After I returned the rental, I was charged a $200 one-way fee, even though I’d paid $82 online through the Budget website. Double-check the charges.

The owner made my sister and me feel welcome, and the rooms were very clean. We’d never been to Fresno, so the convenient location and fair price worked well for us. The outside looked clean and reasonably up to date with amenities, and the air conditioning worked great. I appreciated the stay.

The room was very clean, the staff were lovely, and the location felt safe. I was worried after reading some comments about cleanliness and safety, but was pleasantly surprised. We only needed a few hours of sleep after arriving late for a cross-country event. The price was great, and it’s close to Woodward park with 24-hour food across the street. The bathroom was really cramped. I’m small, 5'5" and thin, yet I couldn’t fit my legs in front of the toilet and had to sit sideways. There’s a big boulevard out front, and motorcycles or hot rods kept racing along it until 2 a.m., so the room was noisy. After that, it got very quiet.

I was driving from Yosemite to Fontana and got too tired to keep going. After striking out at the hotels nearby, I ended up at best budget on another hotel's recommendation. I should have slept in my car. Never again. The first room was crawling with bugs, including inside the individually wrapped plastic cups. When I asked for a refund, the woman refused and offered a different room. The second room had no bugs, but the sheets had burn marks and there were red stains on the pillows. I left all my things in the car, slept for three hours with every light on, then got out as fast as I could. I’ve never had a more uncomfortable night.
