The suite was a real plus for us: two full bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a nearly complete kitchen and a little dining nook. One bedroom had its own bath. The building seems to have started out as apartments, which meant a decent sized elevator, plus extras like a movie room. Our deck looked over the outdoor hotel area with its hot tub, games and seating. I think they may offer dining there in summer. It sits beyond downtown, so the walk from the ferry involves more uphill than some places. San Juan rises pretty quickly from the dock in general, though, and this hill wasn't especially steep or something only very young, fit people could manage. Just factor in the incline if that matters to you. The hotel is a little outside town, but Friday Harbor is small, so it still felt close to the things we wanted to do. The staff were lovely and friendly. A funny thing: the corridor to our room was the strangest hallway I've ever seen. My travel companion and I were delighted by it. At first I thought it was an optical illusion, and I almost want to recommend the place just so others can see it. It didn't bother my stay at all, but wheelchair users should know it bends enough that you can't roll straight down it, more like a slalom. There are hotels closer to the center, though I can't speak to their quality. At the time we visited, they cost about twice as much. My take on this place reflects the price we paid compared with the competition.

The place was roomy and comfortable, and it's close enough to walk into town. There was a nice restaurant with good coffee nearby. I'd only suggest adding more kitchen supplies, especially silverware and glasses. Wine glasses would be good too.

The staff were professional and kind, and the building felt clean and inviting. We were comfortable in our family room, which had two bedrooms and bathrooms, a small kitchen, dining space and a family room. There were plenty of enjoyable amenities, and the breakfast cafe served delicious food. It was easy to walk to lots of places in Friday Harbor.

We could have happily stayed longer. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the location made everything convenient. The fish tank was a fun touch. Reality at the front desk knew a lot and took time to help us plan and share recommendations. Having a luggage room where we could leave our bags after checkout was handy too.

We booked for Memorial weekend and stayed in room 207 with kids aged 3-11. My priorities were a clean hotel, a good location, parking, and breakfast available onsite. We knew the price going in, so I can't complain about it. Is it worth the cost of a 3 star hotel? Maybe not, but compared with nearby options it made sense to us. I'd call it 3.5 stars. They have upgraded a lot of things people used to complain about, so they're clearly paying attention. The room was large, clean, and had no sticky carpet. One bedroom had AC, another a ceiling fan, and there was a big spare fan in the closet. Some outlets are worn, but standing chargers have been added. The kitchenette was useful, with dishes, glasses, mugs, cutlery, a bottle opener and an electric kettle. Bring a knife and can opener. They supplied one paper towel, two good quality toilet paper rolls and plenty of garbage bags. The bathroom was clean, with a new commode that flushed well, new shelves, a strong vent and no odd water smell. Good mirror and lighting for makeup, plus a full length mirror on the door. Parking was plentiful. Breakfast isn't included, but the contemporary cafe downstairs was lovely. We liked the avocado toast, yogurt bowl, breakfast burrito and classic egg, toast, bacon and potato plate. There's a kids menu, and the coffee and service were excellent. There's a separate room inside the cafe if you want to eat food you brought yourself. The game room was a highlight, with shuffleboard, basketball, books, puzzles, Jenga and a good range of board games. The kids had plenty to do, and we got some downtime. Great for rainy weather. There's also a theater room with Netflix on a big screen. Get the remote from reception. Someone was always at the front desk, and they were helpful and accommodating. The hotel is a three minute drive from Anna Cortes terminal.
