Fullerton Inn - Near Medieval Times

I only stayed because I had to. For about $10-20 more, the Days Inn on Beach and Orangethorpe has much cleaner, nicer rooms, breakfast, a more secure area, and nicer staff. I arrived here at night asking for a room, and the woman at the window made it clear I was inconveniencing her. The room looked clean at first, but after walking barefoot to get dressed for work, the bottoms of my feet were black. I also spotted two roaches. The TV had no channels, though I figured I could use my phone. The fridge and microwave outlets didn't work, so I had to move them around to find one that did.

The location was nice, with free parking and restaurants nearby, including fast food within walking distance. There’s also a wonderful Mexican restaurant nearby with a drive-through that stays open 24 hours. The place was quiet, though construction noise started about 3-4 hours before checkout in the morning. It was annoying and made me uncomfortable, and I couldn't watch TV. My boyfriend and I had a king room with a big jacuzzi tub, roomy enough for four people. We had space together and found it relaxing and romantic. The bed was comfortable, towels and linens were clean, and the bathroom and shower were nice. The AC worked very well. Staff were nice, and check-in and checkout were quick. The deposit is $20 for a regular room and $40 for the jacuzzi room, payable by cash or credit/debit card, and refunded at checkout at the front desk. I think the pool is open to the public again, and I think the front desk can provide extra towels if you ask. The room had a microwave, mini fridge, desk, and coffee maker. There was a phone, but it had no signal. The carpet looked old and heavily used, with a lot of dirt, though they probably vacuumed it. The lamp above the bathroom mirror didn't work and the bulb wouldn't stay lit. I didn't notice scratches and marks on the bathroom and jacuzzi mirrors until a couple hours before checkout, when there was more light in the room. 😁

I was looking for an affordable place for a Knotts berry farm visit, but I wouldn't recommend this one. The sheets had holes, the shower temperature kept swinging a lot, and the place definitely needs remodeling. Breakfast wasn't available, and the pool and spa were open for only three hours, from 2pm to 5pm.

The hot tubs are why I've stayed here a few times, and they're looking new now. There's plenty of hot water to fill them, and the AC works nicely. This is an older motel, but it seems to be under new management and they're doing a good job cleaning it up. The new flooring is great, and the rooms look freshly painted. The old curtains are pretty bad and could be replaced. Still, for a room with a hot tub, it's a great price. Those rooms are getting harder to find, so I'll return.
