The private pier on the bay is just steps from the resort, and we loved it. Pelican Bay Resort in Fulton, Tx. has comfortable, nicely sized cottages with well-stocked kitchens. They’re artfully arranged among windward live oaks that give good shade. The pool and jacuzzi were really nice, there’s a good party room for gatherings, and each unit has a private bbq. The staff were friendly and very helpful. This was our first stay, and I hope it won’t be the last.

We enjoyed the private pier and the beautifully landscaped outdoor area, which was kept in pristine condition. The cottages are cute and operate kind of like an air B&B. This was our experience in cottage #9. There were a lot of positives: the bed was super comfortable, with plenty of pillows and an extra blanket. The living room and separate bedroom each had a TV and dresser, and the full kitchen had an eat-in table, chairs, plenty of dishes and cookware, and a full sz. frig. There were plenty of bath linens, an iron and board, a hair dryer, and enough lamps and outlets. The front porch rockers were great. The price was reasonable, and the grounds were well kept. Staff were super friendly. But general maintenance needs attention. Our toilet ran the whole time, and the bathroom is next to the bedroom. The office closes at 5, which isn’t good if you need something. The pool was the main reason we came and we mentioned that at check-in, but the staff member didn’t say it was closed. There was a sign saying “under routine maintenance,” and the pool was small anyway. Management shouldn’t advertise a pool when it’s unavailable, especially if guests say they want to use it. The hotel next door had a pristine pool we could have used if we’d booked there instead. We also found that the bed wasn’t a king, which was our oversight, the ceiling fan wouldn’t turn off, the porch light didn’t work, and the airport is across the street. With no in-room coffee, no usable pool, and no king bed, we’ll choose another property next time. Those amenities matter a lot to us. If they aren’t high on your list, you may enjoy your stay.

I was impressed by my first stay at Pelican Bay in Rockport Fulton. We spent two nights, and just about everything was perfect. Check-in was easy, and the folder by the entrance had all the codes for the keys and pier. They have a nice fishing pier for guests, too. I’ll definitely return. I’ve found my new go-to place.

My wife, sons, and I have stayed at Pelican Bay for almost 25 years during our many visits to Rockport, and we’ve always enjoyed it. On our August visit a couple of months ago, we noticed roaches in Cottage #7. I figured bugs were part of South Texas, but since we’d never had them inside before, I expected management would deal with it. We came back in Oct. of 2025 and stayed in Cottage #7 again, and the roach problem had gotten much worse. We’ve always brought our own utensils, pots, pans, dishes, cups, and glasses. My wife keeps our clean utensils in a container on the table. When she reached in for a couple of forks, a Turkestan Cockroach ran out, understandably upsetting her. Cockroaches are nasty, carry bacteria, and should stay outside. I think quarterly treatment, or more often as needed, could resolve this. I understand Pelican Bay has new owners and a different management style. We’re asking management to address the problem and hope we won’t have to find somewhere else to stay.

Justin at the front desk was super friendly. The cottages are adorable and comfortable, so this will definitely become a regular destination for us.
