The room was the one decent part. It was clean, the AC worked well, and I liked the mirror sticker saying housekeeping would only come in if requested. But they entered whenever they wanted. After a light knock with no reply, they’d walk right in. They came in while my wife and I were asleep, even though I’d said “no thank you” after the knock. That was extremely uncomfortable. If the hotel says staff won’t enter without a request, it needs to follow through. Breakfast was free, and I wasn’t expecting much: cold cereal, stale toast and bagels, yogurt cups, and a waffle maker. I made a plate to take to my wife in bed, but a very rude woman stopped me and said food had to be eaten in the dining area, and my wife would need to come down if she wanted any. After spending hundreds of dollars at this motel, I didn’t appreciate being told where to eat. I ended up buying food at Walmart so I wouldn’t have to deal with the front desk. When I asked for clean towels, they refused unless I brought the dirty ones back myself. They weren’t going to swap them out in the room. I was also refused extra pillows. Three pillows for two guests sharing one bed is an odd amount. It felt like the hotel has dealt with a lot of theft and drug users coming and going, and has put strange rules in place as a result. I feel those rules punish out-of-town guests looking for a comfortable stay because the hotel keeps renting to that sort of crowd. There was dirty, broken furniture everywhere and leaking fridges in the hallways that could cause someone to fall. The place was a mess, and the employees seemed focused on getting through their eight-hour shifts, not on the guests’ stay. I wish I had more good things to say.
