Breakfast was the one good part. There were Texas shaped waffles, bacon, and plenty of other choices. The rest of our stay was rough. We’d been traveling all day and picked Gainesville as a stopping point, booking online because of the reviews and indoor pool. The reviews were wrong. Our room was dirty, with chips all over the floor; the hallways looked like they hadn’t been swept in weeks, and the elevators smelled like a cattle trailer. We couldn’t get into the dirty pool, and the front desk clerk was nowhere to be found. We didn’t reach the room until 9:30 pm, so it wasn’t as if we were rushing them to clean it. We stayed only because we were too exhausted to go elsewhere, and the AC didn’t work properly. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The hotel wasn’t very busy, which I liked. Outside, there are at least two grills, a gas fire table that was nice to sit around, and a smoking section with chairs. There are Tesla chargers out front, and the neighboring venue has a sidewalk around the retention pond. Breakfast was good, though the eggs were powdered. The indoor pool is extremely small. I’m not sure how quiet the rooms are since there was hardly anyone around us. For a new hotel, the shower grout was badly stained, and the shower glass leaked onto the floor. The area under the bathroom counter also seemed unfinished. Reaching the toilet paper holder takes a big twist, and another bathroom hook would be useful. These aren’t deal breakers, just things I noticed. No one offered the Wi-Fi password, and there was no information in the room about the hotel or area, so we had to call the front desk a couple of times to ask things like when the pool opens.

I checked in on February 7 at about 3:10 pm and left around 7 that evening. I just couldn’t sleep in that bed. The room was 209, and its first door didn’t close properly. The floor looked nasty, the rugs weren’t clean, and there was a stain on the bedsheets. My husband and I left for the casino for three hours, then came back and checked out. I felt dirty as soon as I walked in, and Marriott will hear about it.

I tried to file a formal complaint through Marriott Bonvoy, but their site wouldn’t cooperate. Someone is going to see this anyway. The hotel is filthy, whatever the reviews say. My room had a chipped bathtub and was infested with ants crawling everywhere. These prices are too high for this kind of poor service and quality. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.
