Baymont by Wyndham Galesburg

The pool was awful, with hair and other scum floating in it, and there was no hot tub. The hot tub was sealed up, with chairs on top, like something had happened there. Other “residents” made noise all night, and staff were never available. When I walked into the room, I lifted the toilet lid and found somebody’s used Taco Bell in the bowl. The rest of the room was about the same. Very disappointed with everything about this sleaztel. I’ll never stay here again.

The shower water was hot, the bed was decent, and the room was clean, with no sign of bugs. Breakfast was good, too. We enjoyed our stay and had no complaints. I’ve noticed that people who give less than five stars would complain even if you gave them $1,000 because it wasn’t $2,000.

We’ve stayed here before while passing through, and we’ll keep choosing the Galesburg Baymont Inn on future trips. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. At breakfast, the area felt warm and welcoming, with seasonal decorations. The choices were basic, but the food was fresh and there was plenty of it. The front desk staff greeted us with a smile and helped answer our questions about the area.

Breakfast had a good selection: hard-boiled eggs, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, waffles, yogurt, cereal, apples, bagels, English muffins, and decent coffee, including brewed decaf. The room was clean and had newer carpet. Nothing fancy, but that’s fine by us. I didn’t realize you have to ask for housekeeping. We only used it one day, and it was light service, with the bed made and some towels. We’d come back.
