Haven Inn and Suites

I've been back to The Haven Inn many times over the past six months, and I'll return again. It's an affordable, clean, quiet place to unwind, travel, or stay for convenience. It works well for what it is, but don't expect a fancy room or free breakfast. It feels safe and private. There's private parking, and I always felt fine leaving my car unlocked. CCTV covers the corners, and I haven't seen people wandering around or anything shady going on. Nobody bothers you here. Check-in is easy and the White Horse is right there. It's handy for a trip to AC, a flight, or just hanging out. You're close to a Wawa and a Dollar General, yet despite the busy highway nearby, the rooms stay quiet. You can open a window for air and barely hear the traffic. The laid-back feel and Jacuzzi rooms are both a plus, and the extra cost for the Jacuzzi rooms is worth it. The place is dated and looks like an old motel, with the rooms maybe last updated in the late 80s, so don't expect much style. You get the basics, including towels, but bring anything else you need. The TV might need to be left on when you check in. I don't know why, but sometimes if you turn it off, it won't work again. I'd like to see them provide some coffee and prepackaged morning snacks, or any extra amenities really. Sometimes you may want to bring a laptop in case the TV doesn't work. Even with the dated rooms and few amenities, I give it four out of five. The price matches the style and amenities, and the place is dependable, quiet, and fun.

The front desk person was rude to my wife when we asked for fresh bedding, since the bedding in the room was filthy. The room itself was awful: there were holes in the sheets, poop on the bathroom wall, and the tub kept running. Worst room I've ever been in. I'd give the place zero stars raised to the fifth power if I could.

We never made it past the rooms. The first one smelled strongly of mildew, so we went back to the office and were given another key, but that room was just as bad. We left without staying, and now I'm going to try to get my money back. One of the worst places I've ever been.

You get what you pay for here. If you want somewhere as nice as a Hampton Inn, expect to pay that kind of price.
