Marriott's Fairway Villas

Over Super Bowl weekend, we rented three 2-bedroom suites at Marriott’s Fairway Villas and had a great stay, even with snow and freezing temperatures. The property was very well maintained. Sidewalks, roads, and parking lots were easy to get around on and clearly cared for despite the weather. Our villas were clean and stocked with plenty of pots, pans, plates, and utensils, which worked well for a long weekend. The screened-in outdoor porch was a nice touch, even in winter. The indoor pool and hot tub were a big plus in the cold. The location is ideal, about 15 minutes from Atlantic City. We enjoyed it in winter, and I can imagine it really shines in summer with two beautiful golf courses and a full practice facility on site. We'd definitely return.

Check-in was quick, and there are good breakfast spots nearby. We had a fun, comfortable stay in a nice two-bedroom unit with king beds. The resort and rooms were clean, and the roads had recently been paved. Some furniture and the dishwasher are showing their age, though. When the main TV's backlight started failing, maintenance replaced it in under an hour from start to finish.

I had to cancel a room after something came up. A woman told me I could move the booking to another night, and when I asked about canceling without a charge, she transferred me to Marriott's loyalty team. They said they could cancel it without an issue and assured me I wouldn't be charged. The hotel charged me anyway, and Marriott is now refusing to honor what its employees told me or refund my money. I've spent a lot with Marriott over the years, but this hotel chose to keep payment for a room I never used instead of doing the right thing. I'll take my business elsewhere.

We had a great time at the resort until checkout put a sour note on the end of the trip. We'd asked for a late checkout and were told it was fine, but then our keys stopped working and a staff member said we had to leave right away. The desk attendant apologized when we went to the front, remembered us from the day before, and knew we'd requested the late checkout. They weren't sure how the mix-up happened.
