For $55 a night, this is a clean roadside motel with comfortable beds, and the location is really useful. You can walk to pretty much everything you need. The 554 and 504 buses stop right outside and go to the city or the pville station. The parking lot is brightly lit at night, which matters along this stretch. There are no carpets anymore, which is much more sanitary than most of the other motels nearby. Some rooms need updating, but they’re working through it slowly. If a bug here or there is a dealbreaker, you probably won’t be comfortable at this motel or the others along the pike. Paul has managed the place during the few months I’ve stayed here, and he truly cares about it. He’s kind, puts his heart into the work, and will try to work with you. That’s not something you find at most roadside motels. There is a deposit, but if you don’t smoke in the room, you get it back on checkout day. If something’s wrong, Paul responds quickly to fix it or clear it up. Kindness, respect, and honesty go a long way with him. There’s no maid service, but the cleaners are around every day and will give you whatever supplies you need. Some of us stay long term, though there’s a 21 day rule: you have to check out for 24 hours, then you can come back. Most of us are respectful and friendly. Since we’re locals, we can share hot spots, gossip, and cheap places to eat. People should remember we’re here because we’re down on our luck and trying to get back on our feet and return to normal life. That can happen to anyone, unexpectedly. In my few months here, I haven’t seen any “drug deals” in the parking lot or anywhere else, so I assume Paul has cleaned things up a lot since taking over. You won’t get the Ritz Carlton for $55 a night, and some rooms aren’t in great shape, but the beds are clean and comfy, and you won’t leave with bed bugs either. Management is caring, and I sincerely don’t believe you can find anything better for that price.

I felt comfortable during my stay. Check-in was quick and easy, and the beds were clean and comfy. The rooms have been maintained, with some furnishings already updated and others still on the list. The young woman at the desk was welcoming and very nice. The office is only open certain hours, but that wasn’t a problem for me.

The room and the stay were awful. Roaches got into our food, and the front desk was very rude. Because I booked an extra night online, they made me leave from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. just to give me the exact same room. People stomped around loudly all night so we couldn’t sleep, and people knocked on our door at random hours. You can even see through the gap around the door. The room had plenty of other problems: thin curtains you can see through both ways, lamps that didn’t work and were in disarray, no doors on the sink, and a damaged outlet by the AC where the lamp plugs in that looked like it had caught fire. I absolutely wouldn’t stay again.
