The room felt dingy for a Marriott, with chipped or cracked furniture, walls, and doors. It also had a strange perfume smell, and the bathroom was cramped and tiny. I don't understand why I had to swipe my card three times for three separate charges when I'd already paid through the Marriott app. I was tired and just wanted to get to my room. I've been an IHG member for a long time, but thought I'd try Townplace. Next time I'll choose the Holiday Inn Express next door.

I hate doing DoorDash deliveries to this dump. The elevators still don't work, even though a year has gone by, despite the prices they charge. If you're staying here, don't order delivery unless you're willing to meet your driver at the front desk. My last drop-off was on the fourth floor, at the far end of the hall from the stairwell. After all that climbing and walking, the cheapskate tipped me 50 cents. Like that old man in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.

The whole stay was uncomfortable. The elevators were shut down, and they put us beside a stairwell where people stomped around carrying coolers. The room was dirty when we arrived, and people were blasting music. My dad is a retired veteran and barely got a few hours of sleep. The inconvenience was awful, and when they called, they said they could only give us a few points. Breakfast wasn't very good either.

The elevators have been out since at least August 2025, when they stopped running, and they still weren't working on October 22, 2025. The staff say they'll be down indefinitely, with no estimated repair date. When booking, guests aren't told or notified that they might be assigned a fourth-floor room and have to take the stairs. There are no email alerts. In many cases, the first notice comes the night before, or only after arriving at the hotel. Confirm the elevators are working or that you are guaranteed a first-floor room before booking. Even then, have a backup plan if you must stay here. I recommend choosing a different locally run Marriott under another franchise group, such as the Marriott SpringHill Suites Gallup down the road. Its rooms are much nicer and in far better condition, and the staff and services are better too. The issue, in my view, is with the franchise group, Medallion Hospitality, rather than Marriott corporate, which I have high praise for. I'm a Lifetime Platinum member with nearly 1,000 nights across dozens of countries, and this is the first and only time I've needed to write a negative review for a Marriott franchise. I generally don't post negative reviews, but I'm writing this to warn people about what I see as unethical practices by this hotel management group. They seem to be hoping guests will just show up, pay, and take the stairs. That's unacceptable. I've filed complaints with Marriott corporate, which is investigating, as well as with the city of Gallup, the New Mexico Attorney General's office, and the BBB. If you run into the same issue and learn that it's been going on for a long time, please report it to those groups and post a review to help warn others.

The bathroom was filthy, with hair on the shower curtain and boogers on the walls. We got in around 2 a.m. to a hallway full of rap music and heavy bass. We called the front desk to complain, but nothing was done. They put us right by the stairwells, and the noise woke us from 4 to 7 a.m. At that point we'd given up trying to sleep and hit the road. I wanted a cup of coffee before leaving, but the coffee was empty before 8 a.m. All they offered was a couple thousand points. That's stupid. Is this how you treat a disabled veteran? They should have refunded the room. Avoid this nasty Marriott. It's the worst Marriott I've stayed in, and we're Elite members who've stayed all over the country. This one is on our no-go list.
