Best Western Plus Emerald Inn & Suites

The location isn’t much for walking, though with a car it’s convenient for getting around. For Garden City, that’s just how it is. The staff were all friendly, even though services are somewhat limited, and the lobby had a comfortable place to work or relax. My room was quiet, nicely furnished, smelled good, and had solid wifi. Breakfast was decent and hot. The hotel looked almost new, with impressive upkeep. It’s a relief to stay somewhere that doesn’t look worn down or make you wonder about the sheets.

Parking could be a problem if you bring anything bigger than a car. There’s nowhere at the hotel for a trailer, even a small one. The hotel itself is clean and well maintained, and so far, about four days into my stay, the staff have been friendly and professional. Overall, I’d recommend it as a good place to stay. Edit: After roughly three weeks here, I’d add that the advertised guest laundromat is a real drawback. It costs $2 per batch, and the dryer takes three cycles to dry one load. That works out to $6 and three hours per load. A week’s laundry can take nearly a full day and cost about $35 if you buy detergent at the hotel. I have some HVAC experience, and I think the laundry room lacks ventilation and the dryer vent is clogged or installed incorrectly. It’s also a hassle to find a local car wash for quarters since the front desk doesn’t have any for laundromat users.

We booked this place because of the pool, but it was still under construction, and the website didn’t mention that. Aside from that, the room and beds were great, and the staff were friendly.

The lobby and room were clean and very nice. But the pool and hot tub were under construction. I chose this motel over others nearby specifically for the pool, so I think they should have said on the website that it wasn’t available.
