La Casa Motel

I don’t like the manager here. They rejected my passport even though I consider it higher status than an ID. I’d booked online, but they don’t accept passports. He smirked, and I felt like he wanted to keep my money even though he knew my booking through Priceline was nonrefundable. I asked Priceline to speak with them, and even they gave up. They refunded me for a room that was supposed to be nonrefundable, which says a lot about how messed up the situation was.

As soon as we turned on the light in the room, cockroaches scattered everywhere. It was the grossest, most horrifying thing I’ve ever seen. The receptionist was rude, and they required a cash deposit. We couldn’t use a card, and nobody mentioned that before or after we booked. This place should be shut down over health violations like this.

I’d give it only one star because there isn’t a second floor. We tried to check in while the power was out, then came back later and it was working again. The male manager spent the night walking around the parking lot, telling people where to park and to turn their music down. Someone keyed one of our cars, and he said the cameras weren’t working and he hadn’t seen anything.

I couldn’t sleep because the blankets felt itchy and dirty, and the whole room grossed me out. It looked like the floors had never been swept or mopped. There was dirt and cockroaches all through the bathtub, holes in the bedding, and dirt on the beds. Baby cockroaches were crawling around everywhere. I couldn’t walk barefoot without feeling stuff under my feet, so I got some towels and started cleaning the floor myself.
