Geneva On The Lake

The townhouse was a little old and nothing fancy, but it fit the place’s vibe just fine. We had a wonderful NYE dinner and stayed the night. The food was incredible, the location was wonderful, and the service was top notch. Big, big, big shoutout to their wonderful wine expert.

The staff were nice, and I hope they fix the place up. It was under some construction when we visited. We’ve been to the Finger Lakes three times in five years, and this lovely area made us think the property must have had its heyday some years ago. Nothing was terrible, but nothing impressed us either. The rooms and grounds looked dated, and the food was inconsistent, with some things under-seasoned and others over-seasoned. The pool barely feels like a pool, and there isn’t really a hotel lobby. Nothing looked gross or dirty, but the place felt old and maybe a little neglected. The room exteriors had cobwebs. The lawn was mowed, but up close the grounds didn’t feel welcoming or meant for walking, even though they looked better from a distance. The lake view was just okay, too. There’s a path down to the lake, but it felt a bit off, and the pier at the end was in terrible shape. You have to cross railroad tracks to get there. We wanted something special and got an okay stay instead. Maybe that’s on management.

The atmosphere was beautiful, but the meal was so-so. Charging $90 for just a few slices of turkey felt like a lot for such a small entrée. My child's steak came out practically raw after we asked for medium well. My family had come up from n.y.c., and honestly, they were still hungry.

We’ve been coming here for five years and always stay in the townhouses because we can bring our two little pups. We love the staff. Nina, our bartender, is the best, Andrew is awesome and very accommodating, and John is always so helpful. 5* Rating.
