The biggest issue came after we got home: the hotel charged our card $900 for damage. I had to keep asking what we'd supposedly damaged, and was told it was the mattresses and floor because “your dog peed all over everything,” and that cleaning took over four hours. We never brought a dog or any pet to Gillette, let alone the hotel. I'm waiting for a manager to call back, so I don't yet know how this will turn out. I'm appalled that my kids and I may have slept on dog pee and walked on it throughout our trip. Near the foot of the bed, I noticed odd coloring on the sheets after several days and wondered about it, but assumed it was just a stain at a cheap hotel. Apparently the pee from before we arrived had soaked into the sheets. The room also smelled awful when we arrived. We thought that might just be what a cheap hotel was like, but had to leave the window open every night to sleep. The key cards didn't work the whole time, and we kept asking the front desk to reset them. Another guest had trouble with a card on our first night too. The microwave was dirty, and its turntable didn't fit properly. The tub and shower stopper was grimy and filmy, with rust and hair stuck in it. The tub drained slowly, though at least it didn't hold standing water indefinitely. I wouldn't have written a bad review over the key cards, microwave, or tub on their own. I've learned to report even small issues right away at any hotel. Being charged for another guest's irresponsible pet ownership, especially after sleeping in dog pee, is beyond what's reasonable even at the cheapest place. This was also the one hotel that never thanked me for being a Wyndham Rewards member. I'm at Gold status after staying with them enough times, so I was a little disappointed there was no acknowledgment, though that doesn't have much bearing on the rest. After this awful stay, we'll see whether we keep using Wyndham or switch chains.

A severe winter storm shut down I-94 in Minnesota, leaving me stranded in a small town and unable to reach Gillette for my December 28, 2025 booking. I called the hotel to explain and ask for a refund since it was out of my control. The person who answered said they'd need to talk with the owners first, which I understood and was fine with. It's been a month now, and I still haven't had a real response to my emails or calls about the refund. I've kept contacting the hotel, but they say the owners don't live in Gillette, since they have properties in Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado, and only come to the other properties occasionally while living in Montana full-time. I've emailed at least once and called at least daily, with no reply from the owners. In my opinion, ignoring me like this is rude and disrespectful. I know running a business gets busy and a lot can be going on, but owners still need to make time to respond to customers. It's obvious they don't care about customers at all.

The evening manager was polite and really helpful. Our beds were soft and comfortable, the room was solid enough that we couldn't hear the neighbors, and the light breakfast was suitable. With so many bad reviews around, I wanted to say this is a quiet, nice motel for travelers who need to rest after a drive without spending much. Don't just follow the reviews.

I booked online, checked in, and found a really dirty bathroom, with stuff in both the tub and toilet. There also wasn't a swimming pool or hot tub, which I'd been looking for. I won't stay here again.

I was really disappointed that there was no regular coffee, just decaf in the breakfast room. They were supposed to have coffee available 24/7, but management made no effort to fix it. The room had no coffee pot either, no window screen, and nowhere to hang clothes. The TV remote didn't work and seemed to control a different TV. Management needs to do better.
