We had a wonderful first trip to Colorado, spending a week at Glenwood Canyon Resort over New Year’s Eve. Kevin made everything easy, and we’d definitely return. The suite was spacious, very comfortable, and had a great river view. It’s a quiet, relaxing place, with downtown Glenwood Springs only about 5-10 minutes away.

The monthly rate is high, but this is one of the few places in the area that offers long-term stays, so I tried to book a site. The woman I spoke with was friendly and polite. I wanted to follow the rules, so I asked whether I could use a tiny wood stove inside my camper for heat after I finished installing it. She said she’d check with the manager. The next day she told me I couldn’t stay because of the current statewide fire ban. I offered not to burn the stove, to leave the installation unfinished until I found another place, and even to store it offsite until I moved. The answer was still no. The manager said that since I’d mentioned having it, there was no guarantee I wouldn’t install it and light a fire after moving in. To be clear, I don’t currently have a mini wood stove in my camper, but I was denied a stay because I have a wood stove for it.

My husband surprised me with a wonderful weekend at this beautiful mountain resort. Kevin, the GM, set us up in an amazing cabin right by the Colorado River and helped with every detail. The cabin was exceptionally spacious and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed a mix of relaxing, fishing, and exploring the scenic trails, surrounded by the river and mountain scenery. The staff made a real effort to make the stay special. For fresh air, outdoor activities, and great service, this resort is a gem. I wholeheartedly recommend it for a memorable mountain escape.

The cabin was right on the Colorado River, with a beautiful view of the fall leaves, fly fishermen, and passing whitewater rafts. We stayed in a clean, cute Rustic Riverside cabin in September, with plenty of room for two adults and our kiddo. Having electricity while “camping” was nice. The campground felt safe and family friendly. It was busy and crowded over the weekend, but remarkably quiet at night apart from the trains. They run directly across the river and are very noisy at all hours. The bathrooms are a real hike away, up steep but well-lit stairs, though they’re clean and well maintained. Showers had hot water and good pressure, and campground staff were friendly and helpful. The camp store closes early, so plan ahead for ice or firewood. Glenwood Springs is one I-70 exit away, making it easy to get to the activities we wanted. We enjoyed our stay and would come back.
