Highland Inn

Some parts of the carpet felt like gel was embedded in them and badly needed washing. There wasn't any soap, so luckily I had brought my own. The bed was uncomfortable, and some guests were outside for about three hours, talking to themselves and walking around until around 1am. I left early because of an emergency, but since I'd paid online they couldn't give me a receipt or refund. I should've taken pictures of the problems.

My husband paid for a week here because work was supposed to keep him in town that long. After three nights, the job ended. He worked nights and didn't find out until around 12:30pm, then checked out by 1:30pm, knowing that day would be charged. He asked for a refund on the remaining days he wouldn't use, but the woman refused. They kept three days' payment. What awful management. I hope they're happy they kept our money. We won't be back.

The lobby is closed, so there's no breakfast at the moment. The complementary shampoo had already been used, and the cloth chair had two strange stains. One wall had something splashed on it, which I cleaned. Beds were hard but clean, there were no bugs, the water was clear, and the pressure was good, contrary to other reviews. The first room we got was worse: it smelled odd and the fire alarm kept chirping. They changed rooms right away and made it right. It's not the worst hotel I've stayed in, and I would stay again. Be sure to shut the door firmly, since closing it gently won't do.

The rooms were very clean and the front desk was friendly. I worked nights, so I just wish the people around me had been a little quieter.
