I booked through Choice Hotels because I’m a Diamond member and get discounts. The reservation for my wife and daughter was wrong, which wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but neither Choice nor the hotel would change or cancel it so I could book the right room. We ended up booking two rooms for two nights. The room and location were fine, but the reservation mess turned into a much worse experience. The next day, after we left the hotel, assistant manager Donna called around noon and asked whether I was coming to get my things or whether they should remove them. I said we’d booked two rooms for two nights, but she insisted we’d booked one for two nights and the other for one. I tried to explain the confusion and that we’d paid for both rooms. She wouldn’t listen, said it wasn’t her problem, and threatened to pack and remove my “SHIT” if I didn’t get it within 30 minutes. Then she hung up. I called back to get the manager’s name and headed over. When I arrived, the attitude quickly changed, and my wife handled the conversation. They were sold out, so we couldn’t continue with the second room, but we moved our things before they were removed. My wife told them how unprofessional it was to speak to me that way and hang up. As a business owner, I don’t think the customer is always right, but we were right in this case. I’d stayed here three years in a row, but I won’t return. I’ll keep raising my concerns with Choice Hotels. I was charged for rooms I didn’t want, kicked out of the room we’d booked in person, and threatened with having our belongings discarded. We were just about to park in Nashville when Donna called. I stay at many Choice brand hotels, and this was by far my worst experience.
