This is a last-resort hotel for me, maybe for one night if there’s truly nowhere else. They use it to house homeless people trying to get back on their feet, but the place is disgusting. The owners are rude when they visit. The husband has talked down to me, and the wife is loud and obnoxious, calling you names when she thinks you can’t hear. The halls smell like weed or cigarettes despite the no-smoking rule for rooms. Inside, there’s a urine-like smell, and the rooms have a nasty mustiness. The carpets look as if they haven’t been cleaned in decades, and the rooms aren’t cleaned properly. Room service comes twice a week, not daily. The vending machine doesn’t work, some plugs don’t work, and there’s one lobby microwave with a hole in the top. The sign says animals are welcome, but they don’t allow every type of animal inside. Breakfast is only cereal and juice. Overall, this place is trash. Don’t waste your money.

The people running this place treated us with such disrespect that I’m still trying to understand how they thought that was okay. One employee told us we could check out at 11:30am. Then at 10:54am, an older white man knocked, rudely said we had six minutes to leave or we’d be charged, talked over us when we tried to explain, and said he didn’t care what we’d been told. The staff were rude and unhelpful throughout. They seemed to think customer service meant showing customers how annoying they found them, even though we’d paid an obnoxious amount and they did nothing to make the stay comfortable. The room was dated and disgusting, with carpets stained by who knows what. The TV, air conditioner, and ice machine didn’t work, and they refused to move us. The overpriced “Continental breakfast” was cereal with a picture of milk sitting on the counter for hours and three tiny yogurts. The whole place was repulsive from beginning to end. I’d rather sleep in a tent by the highway than deal with all that, or sleep in what felt like thousands of other people’s smegma. They should shut it down, rethink the entire garbage establishment, and get a new staff who understand what customer service is. I’ve already started telling people about this awful experience so they don’t waste their money or get treated as if they’re beneath the owners and employees. I’ll never go back, and I’d tell everyone else to avoid it too. The same people own The Budget Inn down the road on Sheridan, so avoid that one as well.

There were people I didn’t know hanging around outside the front door all night, and I didn’t feel safe at all. We’d booked a non-smoking room, but it had clearly been smoked in. When we reported the smell, someone came up to check and said they couldn’t smell anything. About an hour later, he brought air freshener and said he’d move us if it still smelled an hour after spraying. He never came back. There was no smoke detector in the room, just wires hanging from the ceiling. Breakfast was two kinds of cereal, warm yogurt, and a shot of orange juice, just enough to claim they served it. Given the condition of the place, I wouldn’t recommend eating there or staying there.

Rina and Nick own this place, and they argue in front of guests all the time. Rina also vents to guests when she’s helping with housekeeping. Staff are deeply disrespectful and don’t accommodate you at all. Housekeeping walks straight into rooms and tries to force people out if they don’t do what they say. They also accused guests of stealing things they don’t even provide. The place smells terrible and has roaches. They advertise continental breakfast, but serve old, stale cereal, juice, and low-quality muffins. Homeless people stay there while trying to rebuild their lives, yet staff constantly put them down. This place shouldn’t even be open. I don’t know how the health department lets it stay open.

The noise was bad enough that I only slept because the AC was so loud it drowned everything else out. The highway out front was noisy, there’s a train nearby, kids ran up and down the hall slamming doors, and people I didn’t want around were loitering outside and in the lobby. I was told the government pays for homeless people to stay there for two weeks at a time. Our room was dirty, and I didn’t want to walk barefoot on the carpet. The “breakfast” was a joke.
